Ready Or Not? - Time Will Tell

The network marketing business has many perceptions by the public. A lot of people feel it is something that "everyone has tried and few have been successful," and that may be so. However, regardless of the many perceptions, it is important to point out that it is a business that is simple, but not easy!

The simplicity is in the fact that once you find the right company (not always simple), and start to implement the system (hopefully they have something that can be duplicated) and you can be coachable you are on your way. But, that is about when it starts to fall apart for the majority of the people. The majority of the people expect to be that guy or gal in the video making thousands of dollars a month within the first few months. This is kind of a lottery mind-set. In reality, it will be taking them 2 - 5 years if all the necessary components come into convergence.

The one thing that they lack is commitment! Have you noticed that at least 50% of the people can't even keep the major commitment that they have made to someone else - their marriage? If someone's reason for changing their life is not strong enough and big enough to drive them through the ordinary challenges that they will face - it's over. It's because people are not in the right frame of mind when they come into the business.

When people are 'prospected' into an MLM business, they bring all sorts of luggage with them when they decide to join. The single most important piece of 'luggage' that they bring is their commitment or lack thereof. So how do you find those people as we meet and greet throughout the day. Can you find someone who is trusting enough to believe and share in your passion for what you believe in so strongly? Sure you can. But will they have what it takes to stay and tough it out!

There will be some of the thousands who join the MLM business every year looking for the quick, lottery win that will not make it even six months. They are the same thousands of people who make the same pledges to join the fitness centers whose business will thrive on the New Year's resolutions that people make to lose weight, get in shape and dedicate that couple of hours a day to make it all happen. The fitness centers couldn't even accommodate everyone if all that joined was committed to attending everyday, so they count on the lack of commitment by the majority that join.

So, how do you know if the person you have found is ready or not? A very successful network marketing professional, Nathan Ricks, refers to it this way...and I quote: "If you find someone who is at 12:00 o'clock then they are ready. If they are at 3:00 o'clock or 9:00 o'clock - they are not there yet. When you find those who are not there yet, however, you don't just move on. You stay in touch with them, continue to build that relationship and the time will come that their clock will say, 12:00 o'clock."

It is so essential to talk with people all the time. No matter what the activity, always be building those relationships and genuinely getting to know people. It only takes a couple of questions in a normal conversation for you to find if they are at 12:00 o'clock. Then it is up to you to help them build and grow.
